Cristina Bellemo

Cristina Bellemo

She was born and raised in a small town, but her imagination has always loved to go beyond the pages and into the worlds. She studied with passion, first at classical high school, then at university, where she graduated in ancient Greek, thus she was able to cultivate her love for words. She has been registered as a journalist for twenty-five years, and has collaborated with various newspapers. She is the editor-in-chief of L’Abbecedario, the newsletter of A.B.C., the Surgical Children’s Association of the Burlo Garofolo hospital in Trieste. She has published with various publishers. Her books have been translated in about twenty countries around the world. In 2021, she was awarded the Andersen Prize as best Italian children's writer. She lives in Bassano del Grappa, where her laboratory is located, a few steps from the Brenta river. She is married to Massimiliano and mother of Cecilia and Sebastiano. She calls work what she loves doing most: keeping stories through writing, and thus being able to share them.
